A cause du COVID-19 l'IBA/IFA JOINT CONFERENCE est annulée. Je devais pour la première fois y présider une séance plénière, à Washington DC les 5 et 6 mai 2020.

Dans le cadre du cours intensif relatif aux contrats commerciaux et de garantie de l'Université de Fribourg, Suisse, Monsieur le Professeur Pascal PICHONNAZ m'a demandé de diriger le cours du mercredi 25 mars 2020 sur les contrats de franchise internationaux et les contrats de franchise Suisse. 

Malheureusement en raison du COVD-19 et du confinement le cours a été annulé.
Rendez-vous l'année prochaine !...

Pour la première fois cette année je vais présider une séance plénière, lors de la Conférence annuelle conjointe de l'IBA et IFA à Washington DC les 5 et 6 mai 2020. Un programme intéressant !

I'll be Chairing for the first time a Plennary Session at the next joint convention of the IBA and IFA in Washington DC, on May 5th and 6th, 2020.

Plenary 2: Data Privacy in the World (GDPR and Not GDPR)Franchise networks increasingly collect personal data, which has great value, but triggers questions about data privacy. Now, the world is divided between GDPR and non-GDPR countries. This session will explore the legal and technical challenges, costs and benefits associated with compliance in GDPR countries and non-GDPR countries. As the number of privacy laws has grown from about 20 to 100 in recent years, this panel intends to explore the existing practices. This panel will share about burning issues amongst which how to transfer data to non-GDPR-countries in compliance with GDPR, how to structure a GDPR-compliant data flow in masterfranchise structures, how to divide up responsibilities between franchisor, masterfranchisees, franchisees and the end customer, best practices and how to protect the data pertaining to the franchise networks.

Présidente de table ronde franchise à l'IBA MIAMI 2020

La convention annuelle de l'IBA sera à MIAMI cette année !

J'y présiderai en ma qualité d'Officier du International Franchising Commmittee les tables rondes de Hot Topics, les 3 et 4 novembre 2020.

Les Tables rondes aborderont les sujets suivants:

- Avantages de a médiation dans les conflits de franchise
- Nouvelles concernant l'expansion en Europe
- Impacts de la prise de conscience du changement climatique sur les réseaux de franchise dans le monde.

This year the annual conference of the IBA will take place in Miami, USA.

I will be Chair of the Hot Topics Session for the INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE, TRADE, FRANCHISING AND PRODUCT LAW SECTION on November 3rd and 4th 2020.

This year the annual conference of the IBA took place in Seoul, KOREA.

A few days of wonderful exchanges with lawyers from around the world in franchising and arbitration, discovering korean culture... and preparing for DC and Miami next year with the other officers of the International Franchising Committee !

Dans le cadre du cours intensif relatif aux contrats commerciaux et de garantie de l'Université de Fribourg, Suisse, Monsieur le Professeur Pascal PICHONNAZ m'a demandé d'intervenir le 27 mars 2019 sur les contrats de franchise internationaux en binôme avec mon confrère Arnaud Nussbaumer de Genève qui présentait les contrats de franchise Suisse.

I was asked by Professor Pascal PICHONNAZ to present international franchise agreement on Wednseday March 27th with Arnaud Nussbaumer attorney from Geneva, who presented Swiss franchise agreements, in Feibourg, Switzerland. 

Students from the intensive business and garantee agreements course were great.

SKILEX - Cours de contrats de franchise internationale en Suisse

J'ai beaucoup apprécié donner cette semaine une matinée de cours à une cinquantaine d'étudiants en droit de l'Université de Fribourg (Suisse) lors de leur événement annuel de 6 jours "SKILEX" à SAAS-ALMAGELL (Suisse).

Au programme: cours pratiques de droit le matin, ski à SAAS-FEE l'après-midi, conférence le soir... Que demander de mieux ?!

Thème de la matinée: cas pratique de contrats de #franchise #internationale.

Quant à la conférence du soir, il s'est plus agi d'une présentation de mon parcours avec un retour d'expérience, et surtout d'échanges avec les étudiants.

Enfin, une discussion "au coin du feu" avec les étudiants et le Professeur Pascal Pichonnaz, axée principalement sur leur projet professionnel.

IBA ANNUAL CONVENTION - ROME

This year on October 9th 2018, I was speaker at the IBA for the International Franchising Committee.

We were talking with colleagues from Europe (The Chair, Francesca Turitto from Italy, Rocio Belda from Spain, David Bond from UK, Dagmar Waldrus from Germany),  about franchise laws in Europe. It was a great session.

Cette année j'ai eu l'honneur de donner à la Convention Annuelle de l'IBA à Rome, le 9 octobre 2018, une conférence sur les lois sur la franchise en Europe, avec des Confrères d'autres pays Européens: Francesca Turitto (Italie), Rocio Belda (Espagne), David Bond (UK), Dagmar Waldrus (Allemagne).

Ce fut très enrichissant !

Speaker @IBA-IFA Joint Convention May 2018 in DC

I attended like every year the IBA-IFA Joint Convention in May in Washington, D.C.


This year, I co-hosted roundatbles about franchise laws in Europe with Sylvia Bortolotti (Italy) on May 8th.

On May 9th, I was twice Speaker about enforcing international franchising judicial decisions and arbitrations with Craig Tractenberg and Kathie Lee. 

We also published an article on the same subject.
